Solar Victoria Battery Rebate

The Solar Homes Program is supporting eligible Victorian households to install a solar battery, by providing a point of sale discount up to a maximum of $4,174.

Solar battery rebates are now available in every Victorian postcode. Solar battery rebates will maintain their current value of up to $4,174 until 30 June 2021.

Victorians eligible to receive a battery rebate if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • the property already has solar PV panels with a capacity equal to or greater than 5kW

  • pre-approval is obtained from your Distributed Network Service Provider (DNSP) to safely connect a battery to the grid

  • the energy storage solution is listed on Solar Victoria’s Approved Battery List and the property does not have an existing energy storage system

  • they are the owner-occupier of the property where the system is to be installed

  • the combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $180,000 a year (based on your Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment)

  • it is an existing property, valued at under $3 million based on the current council rates notice

  • they have not already received a rebate as an owner-occupier under the Solar Homes Program

  • the property address has not previously taken part in the Solar Homes Program

  • the owner/s agrees to receive information from their Distribution Network Service Provider about taking part in battery trials to maximise the value households get from them.

  • 1 Based on a customer with 6,000 kWh consumption and 8,000 kWh generation purchasing a solar and 11.6kWh battery system for a typical price of $14,000 and being supplied by Social Energy. This customer moves from their standard, import only, market offer, estimated at $2,131, to a first year net bill with Social Energy of -$51. Saving figures may vary. You will get a full bespoke calculation on your savings once you have an assessment by an approved solar and battery supplier

  • 2 Social Energy 40¢./kWh Feed in Tariff (subject to regulatory approval) is paid for the first 300kWh of export per quarter and is capped at this kWh limit, until the start of the next quarter. After the cap a second tier tariff is paid at a typical market rate for any remaining export. For full tariff rates please click here
